I still remember camping in China like two decades ago. Now, as the country progresses it seems that security is becoming blurred.
Just recently, incidents of hacking were reported in China. A country that has 400 million internet users has also the potential to produce the biggest pool of hackers in the world. Last time it was Google who reported that their Gmail accounts were hacked now it’s Yahoo. If I’m not mistaken there was once a hacking academy in China which was exposed only after the Google- China controversy. This is also the main reason why the giant search engine decided to transfer its headquarter to Hong Kong.
Although these hacking events are still consider minor such as stealing virtual goods it still can pose as a major threat in the online banking and financial business in the future. China has very strict regulation when it comes to search engines but they don’t have such strong system against cybercrimes.
We know that China has the biggest growing economy in the world. Does it also mean they are also grooming possible thieves and hackers? They don’t even care when Google finally exited their country. According to them they still have other good business and Google’s move won’t affect their economy.
